The Wolves of Inverness

Oh, when the wolves of Inverness did storm
Upon the plain they came upon a bull
Of them who showed no fear, yet rose in form
To heights majeste which wound their will to wool.

The hunger of these wolves was turned instead
To lesser, clove-hooved prey that harbored there.
Their weakened target, filled with mighty dread,
Did try to make his 'scape to Lord-Knows-Where.

And though that 'twas his time he truly knew,
Still valiant was his effort to survive.
His flesh might hold the pack a day or two
As off they plundered hungry yet alive.

So loudly did the bull his snort sustain
That more did join this mystical refrain.
