Wisdom

What wisdom can this sullied night impart
As thru the darkened nightmares we do plod?
What empty rites of passage that we start
Can capture cosy metaphors for God?

These brandied thoughts that carry us away
Might seem profound as off they go in flight.
Some cigared peace that orders us this day
Can only serve to wander through the night.

Escaping from the pain of life to try
And dull the nasty notions that we hide
We face fierce fogs distraught so to know why
Our empty lives still fill with hope inside.

So all in all my Lord why are we here
If not to fight the fortunes that we fear?
